Fine lines are a problem suffered by many, often due to sun damage and neglect. Our skin rejuvenation program combats the condition, along with a recommended skin care treatment program to achieve a more youthful appearance. Generally, these lines may be reduced by 64% on the average client, over a period of usually 5 treatments.
Fine lines and wrinkles become unavoidable when we start aging. As we grow older our skin becomes dryer and less elastic. Most of us begin to develop fine lines and wrinkles by the age of 30 or 35. However, over exposure to the sun can highly enhance the aging process. Exposure to the sun results in the formation of deep wrinkles and furrows, along with changes in pigment and skin texture.
Facial lines and wrinkles form because of the following factors:
- Aging processes
- Sun damage
- Muscle movement
- Gravity
- Injury
- Surgery
- Acne
- Other skin diseases with a tendency to scar (eg: discoid lupus)
- Smoking
There is often a degree of asymmetry to the lines, as people tend to smile or frown more on one side than the other, or consistently sleep on the right or left side.
Fine lines arise because of irregular thickening of the dermis and because of a decrease in the amount of water held by the epidermis. This is mainly caused by sun damage and exposure to environmental toxins such at tobacco smoke.
The Fitzpatrick classification refers to the degree of wrinkling around the mouth and eyes.
Class: 1: Fine winkles.
Class: 11: Fine to moderately deep wrinkles and moderate number of lines.
Class 111: Fine to deep wrinkles, numerous lines, and possibly more than is usual or normal.
